OUR SERVICES
Silas House is a new organization, with a goal to fill a need that is currently unmet in Nelson.
We will consist of two main parts:
-
Social detoxification
-
Educational program
Education Program (Open June 2017)
We have developed a comprehensive 8-week self-development course, based on a successful American education model from NIC. This is aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to understand addiction and begin the process of healing mentally, psychologically and spiritually.
Example topics:
-
Mindfulness
-
Lifestyle Balance
-
Boundaries
-
Relapse Prevention
Social Detoxification
The process of social detox is carried out in a residential inpatient setting. The individual is carefully monitored and assisted. The individual is carefully monitored and assisted. Social workers also provide therapy and counseling as treatment.
One of the biggest differences between this and other programs is that patients aren't administered any medication.
Instead, the process relies on education, along with individual and group therapies.
Therapeutic Community
We aim to create a therapeutic community in a residential setting with a recovery orientation. This environment has a holistic focus on the overall lifestyle changes that an individual needs to achieve biopsychosocial wellness, not simply abstinence from drug use.
Aftercare Services
Recovery is an ongoing process and we recognise the need for people to stay engaged with support. Post treatment, clients will be encouraged to come back to Silas House on a regular basis for continued individual and group sessions.
Working with our Partners
A community working together stands a better chance at combating the drug and alcohol problem. We will collaborate with other services to ensure people get all the help and support that they need.
This includes encouraging people to create solid networks that will support them long-term, such as 12-step programs, churches, maraes and other support groups.
